Grow Where You Are Planted in the Nutrition Profession
To
be at the forefront of health and nutrition and ensure a competitive
presence in the market place as nutrition and dietetics practitioners,
we must grow with new opportunities and embrace change. The current
education system is challenged to produce RDs and DTRs who are flexible,
open to new opportunities and equipped to lead. Defining and supporting
specialist and advanced practice credentialing could position current
and future practitioners to assume more practice autonomy, manage valued
resources and embrace higher risk in decision making. The NC Dietetic
Association and the NC School Health Nutrition Network will offer a
webinar on April 18, 4-5 pm that will address, and
offer an opportunity for participants to provide input on, new
opportunities and potential changes, including the Dietetics Career
Development Guide, advanced practice residencies, and a new
credentialing framework, including multiple supervised practice pathways
and a new credential.
