Eating disorders are rising among the adolescent population. The need for a greater understanding of adolescent development and the interplay of the eating disorder has never been more evident. This webinar will educate viewers on the unique experience that the professional encounters when working with an eating disordered adolescent. Dr. Pence will review the struggles that adolescents face in today’s society and discuss how the eating disorder can become woven into development. Treatment approaches and tools for clinicians will also be reviewed.

About the Presenter:

Lara C.C. Pence received her Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD) and MBA from Widener University in Philadelphia, PA. She acquired specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders while working as a primary therapist at The Renfrew Center, the nation's leader in eating disorder treatment. Additionally, she completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, TX, working at the Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders. She has worked in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings alike, garnering a unique expertise in all levels of care. Currently, Dr. Pence is the Site Director at The Renfrew Center of Texas. She has conducted multiple presentations around the Dallas area, focusing on increasing awareness of eating disorder treatment and education. She was been featured on Good Morning America and the BBC discussing the struggles behind obsessive eating disorder behaviors.
