Nearly 70% of those diagnosed with cancer are not satisfied with treatments offered within conventional medicine alone and utilize complementary and alternative treatments. Integrative medicine has the potential to be the dominant form of treatment for people diagnosed with cancer. The talk reviews the pros and cons of lifestyle and supplementation, focusing on antioxidants, fatty acids and specific herbs. The lecture reviews the evidence and goals of co-management of alternative with conventional treatments.

Dr. Lise Alschuler is a naturopathic physician with Board certification in naturopathic oncology. She practices naturopathic oncology at Naturopathic Specialists LLC - New Hampshire, specializing in prevention and naturopathic care for people who have been affected by cancer in their lives. Dr. Alschuler has authored many articles in professional and popular press publications and has co-authored Definitive Guide to Cancer: An Integrative Approach to Prevention, Treatment and Healing 3rd Edition (Celestial Arts, 2010). She gives presentations about integrated healthcare, naturopathic medicine and naturopathic oncology nationally and internationally. Dr. Alschuler is the immediate past-President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
She believes that her job as a naturopathic physician and educator is to stimulate and support the innate healing processes within each individual by applying a scientifically based strategy that utilizes the most natural and least harmful approaches possible.
