Welch's Hearts RDs!
We all know registered dietitians (RDs) have a lot of heart ... and to celebrate American Heart Month, Welch's will recognize five RDs for it. RDs play an important role in helping people lead heart-healthy lifestyles – and to celebrate their hard work and dedication, Welch’s is rewarding RDs who demonstrate leadership and innovation in heart-health nutrition education.The five winners – and the people who submitted the winning nominations (no self-nomination permitted) – will each receive $500 from Welch’s to support their future nutrition education activities.
Submissions will be reviewed by members of Welch’s Health & Nutrition Advisory Panel, who will judge entries based on the following criteria:*
Heart-Health Focus
Activities must be grounded in heart-health nutrition education and outreach – such as leading seminars on heart-healthy living, developing heart-healthy recipes, supporting cardiovascular-focused nutrition research, or writing heart-health lifestyle articles and resources.
Significant Impact
Entries must demonstrate a significant impact – for example, because the work has reached a widespread audience (e.g., through media spokesperson work, an award-winning heart-health cookbook) or because the efforts have had a strong effect on a client’s lifestyle by improving his/her heart-healthfulness.
Innovation & Passion
Efforts should illustrate creativity and innovation that speak to the RD’s commitment to heart-health education – such as utilizing new techniques or tools to effectively reach clients and/or employing new channels to extend his/her communications efforts to reach a wider audience.

submitted the winning nominations) on RD Day, March 14, 2012. And, the
winners’ stories will be featured here.
