Description:	This session provides an overview of successful strategies utilized throughout the country to create a breastfeeding-friendly community.  Factors that impact breastfeeding duration rates, use of social marketing, principles behind USDA campaign, and other strategies will be explored. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to: Identify at least 3 significant breastfeeding initiatives on national level Name two characteristics of the social marketing approach Name at least 2 evidence-based interventions to address common barriers to breastfeeding This program has been approved for 1 CEU by Miami-Dade AHEC.  Miami-Dade AHEC is an approved provider (Provider #50-1349) by the following Florida Boards: Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC), Florida Board of Psychology (PY), Florida Board of Nursing (LPN, RN, ARNP), Florida Council of Dietetics and Nutrition (NC, LD, RD) and National Commission for Health Category 1 (NCHEC #MEP2904). Certificates of attendance will be provided to Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) as proof of continuing education hours. Note: These hours are valid towards recertification for CLCs only, not for Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).
