Dr Constance Geiger, PhD, RD, CD

 

Dr. Geiger is President, Geiger & Associates, LLC and a research associate professor, Division of Foods and Nutrition, the University of Utah.  She develops effective communication strategies for conveying important health and nutrition messages to consumer, corporate, government, food industry and allied health entities.  She brings a unique combination of nutrition science, marketing research, consumer communications and federal regulatory knowledge to bear on food and health claims label design and communication.  She has assisted with 2 approved FDA health claim petitions.
Dr. Geiger is a member of the Ethics Committee, a former Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of the ADA and chaired ADA’s Food Labeling Task Force. She also chaired the Commission on Dietetic Registration and served for 9 years as a member of the Board of Editors, The Journal of the American Dietetic Association.  She is the past-chair for the Nutrition Division of the Institute of Food Technologists.




Joanne M. Holden, M.S.

 

Joanne Holden is the Research Leader of the Nutrient Data Laboratory at the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center of the Agricultural Research Service, U.S.  Dept of Agriculture.  In this role she is responsible for coordinating the acquisition, evaluation, compilation, and dissemination of food composition data for the US.  The primary product of USDA’s food composition research is the National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, which serves as the foundation for most food composition data applications.  
Ms. Holden’s personal research interests include food sampling and the evaluation of the quality of data for foods .
